The Potro Inn was a meeting place for “Truhanes” (knaves) in the 16th and 17th centuries and a favorite haunt of Cervantes, both in his life and in his work. This is an old farmyard, a communal dwelling from the 15th century, made up of rooms where families lived around a common courtyard with a well in it.
Both the courtyard and the stables were declared Artistic Monuments. For six hundred years, the high gallery has remained intact along with its columns and railings, the wooden canopy and the small rooms.
Thanks to a magnificent restoration, this building is currently the headquarters of the Fosforito’s Flamenco Center, which is dedicated to the dissemination of flamenco and the figure of the famous flamenco singer Antonio Fernández, “Fosforito”.
