CALLEJA DE LAS FLORES
Calleja de las Flores (Flower Alley) is the most popular, visited and photographed street in the city of Cordoba. It is part of the Historic Center, which was declared a World Heritage Site by UNESCO in 1994. Crossing this alley, with its whitewashed walls and flowerpots, we arrive to a small square that was once an old neighborhood courtyard. Its current appearance is due to a refurbishment carried out in the 1950s. The typical cobblestones of the time were replaced by the traditional Cordoban ones and the fountain, which invites us to enjoy the sound of the water, was added so we could appreciate the calm and beauty of the flowers that surround the area.
You can admire the flowering alley and observe the bell tower of the Mosque-Cathedral of Cordoba from this breathtaking square. Hundreds of visitors pass by every day to take pictures of this view, reason why this is the most typical sight of the city. It has also served as inspiration for the Cordoban poet Ricardo Molina.
