BULLFIGHTING MUSEUM
The art and culture of bullfighting is a tradition that has endured throughout the history of Cordoba. Located in the Jewish Quarter, among narrow streets and courtyards, this Bullfighting Museum is housed in an old 16th-century stately home. Bullfighting has been recognized as a cultural asset by Spanish law since 1991, and later became an Intangible Cultural Asset.
This Bullfighting Museum was inaugurated on the 4th of May 1983, and inside we will be able to immerse ourselves in the extraordinary beauty of Cordoba’s history in the art of bullfighting. Its different sections contain information on the city’s bullfighting venue, where visitors can experience the historical legacy of bullfighting in Cordoba. We will find exhibition rooms dedicated to the bull and its environment, from its historical past to the present day. We will also visit one of the best rooms in the museum, the one dedicated to the city’s most important bullfighters, known as “The Five Caliphs”. The museum also has permanent exhibitions showcasing its rich collection.
