Discover the most singular monument in the world. More than 20 centuries of arquitectonical materials. An old Mosque during more than 4 centuries was desacralised as a Muslim Temple to be consagrated as a Catholical Temple on 1236 till now a days.
Abderraman I built the old Mosque in 786, different Emirs and Caliphs were extending for 2 centuries. In 1236 Ferdinand III conquered the city and the Umayyad Qurtubah was named Cordoba and was a Christian City till now a days. We began our time tube travel at “Patio de los Naranjos”, closed to the Cathedral tower, to enter at the monumental area of the old mosque. We will walk through this monument to admire the differents arquitectonical materials used for the different extensions, till we’ll arrive to the Qibla wall and the Mihrab from the midle of 10th century.
Afterwards, we will get to know in detail the Holy Cathedral Church and its different architectural and sculptural phases. The main altar and the magnificent choir stalls carved in mahogany wood stand out.
